Diving bottom survey
Diving inspection of the bottom is an important preparatory stage before exploitation of the water area. It can be performed in several ways, but one thing is constant — the inspection must be carried out by professionals with special training.
Why conduct a beach bottom and water area survey?
The goals can be different, for example:
- search and disposal of dangerous objects (including explosive ones),
- assessment of the soil condition at the construction site of real estate objects,
- determination of soil composition and its condition for laying pipelines,
- determining the presence of foreign objects on shipping lanes and beach areas,
- search for sunken objects,
- scientific research, etc.
During a diving survey, divers move underwater over long distances for a long time. Special equipment is used to make the work easier.
2 types of examinations
Diving operations to survey the bottom are carried out using a running rope. In small water areas, a circular method is allowed, in large ones — using strips.
- Using stripes
- Survey in circles
The area is delimited by buoys and divided into strips for inspection. Their width is approximately 50-70 meters (if the work is carried out by 2 specialists).
The stripes are marked with guide ends with buoys or ballasts. Divers go from the edges of the stripes to the middle, and then back. To avoid gaps, they use a running rope with ballasts (2-6 meters long).
For such work, a launching end and a running guy line, divided into 2-6 meter sections, are used. The launching end is installed in the right place, and a diver is lowered down. He takes the guy line and moves along it to the first knot. Then, holding on to the guy line and the knot, he goes around the ballast — and thus makes the first circle. Then he moves to the second knot and makes the second circle.
